ADVANCED FINANCIAL STATEMENT ANALYSIS

Overview

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to examine the various methods for evaluating the financial and operational performance of their organisations, as well as that of their rivals, suppliers, and customers. After establishing the fundamentals, this course will quickly move on to examine some more advanced ratios for evaluating an organisation’s financial health from both an internal and an external “asset valuation” perspective. Throughout this course, we will consider industry-specific ratios and the information they provide. To ensure that the concepts covered can be applied to their specific businesses, attendees are encouraged to bring the financial statements of their organisations, competitors, suppliers, and/or customers.

A combination of interactive case studies, exercises, and examples will make the tools and techniques you learn in this highly informative course easy to use in the workplace.

We will also learn how to create the following financial models from scratch using Microsoft Excel:

  • Discounted Cash Flow,
  • the Weighted Average Cost of Capital,
  • Price to Earnings,
  • Price to Revenue, and so on – all from scratch (assuming you have no or some accounting/finance knowledge).
